Following his Japan debut at last summer’s World Ballet Festival, American Ballet Theater soloist Daniil Simkin returns to Tokyo in Don Quixote. Born in Russia but raised in Europe, Simkin is one of the leading lights of the post-Soviet era, and is currently being showered with acclaim not only for his slender, flexible physique but for his efforts to connect with fans via Twitter and Facebook. He performs opposite the Tokyo Ballet’s charming Reiko Koide for the first and last nights of Don Quixote’s three-day run, while veterans Naoki Takagishi and Mizuka Ueno star in the slightly cheaper middle performance.
