Tokyo’s contemporary art scene throws open its doors for Art Week Tokyo’s fifth edition, running November 4–8, with a record 56 museums and galleries joining in. Hop on the free AWT Bus and let it ferry you between venues across the city.
AWT Bar
South Aoyama transforms into the week’s social hub once again, with a pop-up bar designed by architect Kae Ito under the playful theme “KURU KURU.” The real draw, though, might be the drinks list: artists Natsumi Aoyagi, Yoshihiro Suda, and Mariko Mori have each dreamed up a signature cocktail inspired by their current exhibitions around town.

AWT Video
Settle in for a free screening program curated by X Zhu-Nowell, built around the theme “Your Travel Guide To…” — a title that leaves the destination refreshingly open. Ten artists take viewers somewhere new.

AWT Talks
For the deep-dive crowd, this year’s symposium, “Memories of Unease: Contemporary Art and the Echoes of History,” gathers researcher Gen Adachi, curator Rasha Salti, and X Zhu-Nowell for a conversation on art’s reckoning with history.
