Tokyo Skytree Dream Christmas runs from November 5 to December 25. The holiday event fills the tower and the Tokyo Solamachi complex below with illuminations, a Christmas market and seasonal events.

This year’s theme is “Wish Upon a Star.” Around 400,000 gold lights decorate the area each evening from 4 to 11 pm.

An 8-meter star-themed tree anchors the illuminations. Nearby, the Starry Dome surrounds visitors with shooting-star effects. There’s also an ornament tree where guests can write a wish and post it.

The Christmas market returns for its 11th year at Sky Arena on the fourth floor. Styled like a storybook European town, it runs daily from 11 am to 10 pm Highlights include a stollen about 4 meters long, plus Santa- and snowman-themed dishes.

After dark, the tower itself becomes a giant Christmas tree. Three special light designs rotate about every 15 minutes, from 5:30 to 10 pm on most nights. On December 24 and 25, the lighting stays on until midnight.
