SANRIO EXHIBITION FINAL ver. THE BEGINNING of KAWAII in Roppongi

Apr 09, 2026 at 10:00am ~ Jun 21, 2026 at 8:00pm

Marking over six decades of Sanrio’s character design and cultural influence, SANRIO EXHIBITION FINAL ver. THE BEGINNING of KAWAII is on view at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills.

First launched in 2021 as a traveling exhibition, this final Tokyo edition is the largest to date. The exhibition traces how “kawaii” developed from a graphic and emotional sensibility into a global cultural framework, moving through original drawings, products and archival material.

More than 200 Sanrio friends are brought together, from widely recognized icons to lesser-seen characters. This final edition presents the largest volume of merchandise and designs ever shown in a Sanrio exhibition, spanning decades of production and visual shifts.

On the same floor, THE SUN & THE MOON (Cafe) runs a limited-time collaboration tied to the exhibition. The menu features character-inspired dishes such as a Pompompurin carbonara udon, a Hello Kitty burger and a Kuromi cake.

From April 24, the THE SUN & THE MOON (Restaurant) introduces an afternoon tea set based on the exhibition named “KAWAII Afternoon Tea -Final ver.-”. Reservations open April 17.
