The absence of a Tokyo date on the Foo Fighters’ upcoming tour engenders speculation that Dave Grohl’s hard rockers might headline Fuji Rock for the first time since 2005. Meanwhile, they are promoting perhaps their best album yet in the form of Wasting Light. Produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana’s Nevermind, Garbage, etc.), the album returns to the straight-up rock ‘n’ roll of the Foo’s early work, and has been nominated for six Grammys. Whether this is a sign of the album’s excellence or the Grammys’ obsolescence is for you to decide.
