It’s known to most simply as “salsa,” but Cuban music and dance takes many forms. The brainchild of Nilda Guerra, Havana Rakatan is a stage spectacular that transports viewers beyond salsa to forms like the cha-cha-cha, rumba and tango. These are danced to perfection by the toned members of the Rakatan Ballet, to the accompaniment of veteran octet Turquino, which specializes in the salsa precursor known as son.
