The appropriately-named Mousou Kousakusho (literally, “delusional construction place”) has some pretty crazy items for sale. Perhaps none are more fishy (excuse the pun) than these piscine pencil cases. They look like the real thing, but it is not until you gut (read “unzip”) your catch that you realize the realism extends to the insides. The lineup includes hokke (mackerel) and medetai (red sea bream; all ¥2,380). From nose to fin they’re about 26cm, which is not enough for a tall tale, but these are sure to make an impression.
