Japan’s, nay, Asia’s biggest fetish party is back with a vengeance after taking last year off to help victims of 3/11. The first thing you need to know is no one wearing street clothes will be allowed in—you must come in fetish wear or similarly outrageous garb. The performances will again be world class from the arty to the scary. For the former, avant-garde performance art troupe Wagnin Bunmei will present their satirical butoh-inspired take on Japanese society. For the latter, Suspension by the Hookers will hang folks by hooks thrust though their own skin. Also, Syban, who has opened shows for rock legend Alice Cooper, will perform her signature version of Swan Lake with a sexual, grotesque and shocking edge. Lastly check out Victorian time travel from Chaos Royal, where tribal fusion meets steampunk. The group’s performance combines bass grooves with physical expression, revealing the intensity of their inner world.
