With the help of Blue Note Tokyo, Chiyoda Ward is celebrating Unesco International Jazz Day with a free jazz festival at the new Waterras complex in Kanda. Blue Note means big names and Jazz Auditoria does not disappoint. Heading the lineup is the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra, led by Japan’s most important jazz composer and one of just a few women anywhere to make their mark on jazz as bandleaders. Filling out the ranks are the Blue Note Tokyo All Star Jazz Orchestra and individual players including popular violinist Naoko Terai and hepcat piano personality Swing-O a.k.a 45.
