Miss Hawaii 2009, Aureana Kamaliioiwalani K.L. Tseu, returns to Japan as part of an extravaganza that’s sure to satisfy the legions of local hula fanatics. The daughter of a hula master, Tseu began dancing at age 5 and has numerous achievements to her credit, including selection as a finalist at the all-important Merry Monarch Festival. Ka Nani O Hawaii: Voyage tells the story of Hawaii from its founding mythology through colonization (which saw widespread repression of hula dance) and on to the current re-emergence of the island’s culture in a contemporary form.
