“Enigmatic beacon of the Melbourne underground,” Karl E. Scullin and his Kes Band make their Japan debut with a weeklong trawl through the country’s live houses. Praised for provocative songwriting and quiet but eccentric aesthetics, Scullin tours the country at the invitation of domestic experimental pop act My Pal Foot Foot. The two groups have just released a flavorful split album and will be sharing the bill on Kes Band’s final Japan date. Fans of avant-folkers like Grizzly Bear and Andrew Bird, take note.
