Will Ferrell’s a funny guy. Except when he’s not. Like in this deeply mediocre mess based on a campy, barely remembered Saturday morning TV show from the ’70s. A “quantum paleontologist” (Ferrell), a pretty British physicist (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) are transported to an alternate world of dinosaurs, annoying ape-men and cheesy SFX, where they fail repeatedly and spectacularly to be funny. I didn’t crack a smile. Too bawdy for kids, too lame for adults. What was this film’s target audience anyway, and where’d they spend the $100 million?
