Top DJ Kawasaki began to notice that some of his favorite North American legends would drop disco classics into their Tokyo sets of hard-hitting house and techno. Intrigued, he began to dig into the history of disco and unearth its influence on contemporary dance music. The result is Magic: A Collection of Black Dance Music Classics mixed by DJ Kawasaki. Intended as a primer for today’s party kids, the album runs from Sister Sledge to Chaka Khan. Kawasaki unleashes the album at Shibuya’s The Room this weekend.
