Apparently, the Appleseed series has been around for quite some time—initially a manga 30 years ago, then a TV series and three movies. So I think you’re supposed to know more about it than I do to judge it good or bad.

Anime and CGI adherents will love the brilliantly rendered, post-apocalyptic New York City, not to mention the almost traditional main lady warrior’s bursting cleavage, but unschooled casual viewers approaching it stand-alone may lack the backstories to find any meaning in it at all. Zilch character development and a hackneyed plot reduce it to very well done eye candy. (93 min)
