The Professor

Deep, dull and depressing Depp dive

A colossally mawkish, unforgivably cheesy misfire that will do little to help Johnny Depp’s flagging career. It’s about a college professor who, after being diagnosed with a terminal illness, throws himself into some serious misbehaving. For this kind of thing to work, an actor has to sell the character early on. He doesn’t, really, and what remains is an hour and a half of extreme archness. Not remotely recommendable.
