Iconic contemporary dance choreographer Saburo Teshigawara returns home with a work he debuted to much acclaim in Europe last year. Inspired by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali’s surrealist film classic Un Chien Andalou, Obsession is a duet for Teshigawara and dancer Rihoko Sato. The choreographer brings his total control of staging, lighting and choreography to the theme of the continual “obsession” of human beings with attaining the ideal. This Tokyo premiere is made doubly special by the presence of French violinist Fanny Clamagirand, who will perform music selected and adapted by Teshigawara.
