Everyone is invited to start their own pop-up restaurants all over Tokyo on November 17, just for the day. What you serve, where, and how big or small the food offering is all up to you. The idea is to create an open, creative and inviting environment to experience new culinary delights, try your hand at running a business, or simply meet new people with a taste for adventure. It’s a worldwide event with everything from Scandinavian snacks in Milan, to a cornucopia of ethnic foods in Amsterdam.

Since its initiation last year, Restaurant Day averages about three events per year.

Find out where your local pop-up shop will be appearing at the Facebook page for Tokyo, or download the Restaurant Day app (available for iPhone, Android, WP7 and Symbian) for easy nom-hunting.

A sample of what’s available: Hygge will be selling hot dogs inside featured café Ballon D’Essai from 10am-8pm.
