After performing at the closing ceremonies of the World Cup in 1998 and 2002, Shuichi Hidano can lay claim to being the international face of taiko. He launched his solo career in 1989 after apprenticing with the formidable Kodo ensemble, and has since performed over 1,900 times in a range of contexts from the traditional to the contemporary. The upcoming 20th anniversary concert looks back at 1,500 years of taiko tradition and forward to its future iterations in the 21st century. Guests include performers from Kodo and the equally redoubtable Ondekoza troupe.
