We are as confused as Army Capt. Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) is when he awakes aboard a Chicago commuter train, apparently in someone else’s body and talking to an attractive woman he’s never met (Michelle Monaghan). Eight minutes later, the train blows up. Then this happens again. And again. Think Groundhog Day meets The Matrix. Telling you anything else would constitute spoilers. Suffice it to say that while the science in this riveting effort from Moon director Duncan Jones is silly at best, the film remains coherent, the tension is riveting and the human emotion is absolutely real.
