From October 1, 2014, products such as confectionery, cosmetics and health goods were added to the Japan’s tax-free list for tourists.

According to Japan Tax-Free Shopping Guide, the following products will now be exempted from tax for tourists traveling in the country:

1. Consumables (foods, drinks, medicines, cosmetics, etc.)
2. General goods (electrical appliances, clothing, accessories, etc.)
