English Royal Ballet director/choreographer Will Tuckett turns his hand to an ancient Japanese folk tale in a ballet world premier starring Japanese dance phenom Yasuyuki Shuto. The Crane Maiden tells the tale of a poor old couple whose wish for a child is answered in the form of a beautiful girl after they rescue a wounded crane. The girl secretly weaves them a beautiful cloth of unimaginable value, but when the couple reveals her clandestine handiwork she reverts to a crane and flies away.
