The Speak

Unspeakably lame

Originally published on metropolis.co.jp on September 2011

In yet another weak Blair Witch/Cloverfield/Paranormal Activity clone, an amateur film crew gains access to a purportedly haunted hotel for a bit of ghostbusting, and lives (or perhaps doesn’t) to regret it. They bring along a Native American, who knows a chant (a “speak”) that will bring entities over from the spirit world. She cautions against this but goes ahead and performs the ritual anyway. This is a paragon of logic compared to the rest of this tedious film, which consists mostly of repetitive POV shots of rushing through the hotel’s darkened corridors. Unspeakably lame.
