Works by Auguste Rodin, the giant of French sculpture, form the heart of the National Museum of Western Art’s collection. Now they’re all on exhibit for the first time. “Traces of Hands” not only displays all 58 Rodins in the museum’s collection—including his legendary “The Thinker”—it also presents sculptures by Rodin’s assistant and successor Antoine Bourdelle. The exhibition attempts to depict the relationship between the elder master and talented young apprentice as they come to grips with new technologies and forms of expression at the turn of the last century.
