An art auction employee (James McAvoy) is the inside man in the theft of a Goya, but gets conked on the head and can’t remember where he stashed it. Vicious-criminal partner (Vincent Cassel), after trying torture, turns to a hypnotherapist (an electric Rosario Dawson) for answers. It’s not dull, but it’s so caught up in clever “flexible reality” twists (who’s the villain now?) that there’s little time for character development, and it’s therefore hard to care. Entirely watchable, but rings slightly hollow for a film by the great Danny Boyle, who brought us Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire.
