Was Twilight too profound? Here’s a genre-bending Romeo-and-Juliet tale positing a romance between a zombie (Nicholas Hoult, the all-grown-up boy in About a Boy) and a human (Teresa Palmer, looking a lot like Kristen Stewart). Turns out that, like, true love can cure the undead. (No one mentions the friggin’ smell.) The laughs this rom-zom-com plays for are only lukewarm, though I have to say it’s the first meet-cute I’ve seen involving the eating of a deceased boyfriend’s brains. Banal, achingly sincere and not all that clever, this one will anger those zombie purists it doesn’t put to sleep.
