Influential alt-country act Wilco finally seem to be getting some respect in Japan, with an extra gig added to their Tokyo visit. Epically—even tragically—chronicled in the black-and-white documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Wilco are led by singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy, one of the low-profile heroes of the indie-rock era. Having basically invented the alt-country genre through albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Tweedy and co. are now producing their own music festival in the form of this June’s Solid Sound Festival at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Their latest album is 2011’s The Whole Love.
