Edo-era ukiyo-e master Hokusai’s woodprints of scenic spots around Japan are legendary, but contemporary artists continue to create series based on famous sites. In a new exhibition, printmaker Yasuhiko Kida presents the results of five years of work in the form of “The 33 Temples of the Saigoku.” Also recently completed and of interest will be his stained glass series “Japanese Heart: Famous Shrines and Temples.” Born and educated in Kyoto, Kida had his works chosen for the landmark 1994 British Museum show “Exhibition of Modern Japanese Prints 1912-1989.”
