Actress Yukie Nakama says that starring in the 3-D film Gekijoban Trick: Reinosha Battle Royale has reconnected her with the feelings she had when first starting out as an actress. Based on the popular TV series and manga, Trick is about a magician (Nakama) and a physicist (Hiroshi Abe) who debunk fraudulent spiritualists. Nakama reprised her role for the first time in four years in Gekijoban Trick, the third film version of a series that began airing in 2000. “Playing this part again conjured up my initial feelings of being nervous and confused when I first started out in this business,” she said at a press conference. The Okinawa native views the first Trick film as her big break because it led to her star-making turn in the TV show Gokusen, in which she portrayed the granddaughter of a yakuza boss who teaches at an all-male private high school. Nakama has gone on to star in many films and TV shows, and is one of Japan’s most sought-after personalities for TV commercials. “I’m really enjoying myself at this stage of my career because I am getting such a variety of parts,” she gushed.
