Can’t make it to London? Now the British Museum comes to Tokyo in the form of an extensive exhibition of its renowned collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. For over 1500 years between 1600 BC and 100 AD, the Book of the Dead (not a single text, but a compilation of spells) guided the dead safely through the dangers of the hereafter to eternal life. This exhibition offers the first chance to see the world’s finest collection of Book of the Dead papyruses together including the 37-meter Greenfield Papyrus, which has never been shown publicly in its entirety before.
Mori Arts Center Gallery, through Sep 17 (listing).
