A respected Wall Street fund manager is trying to sell his company to cover up a hidden $400 million debt. Worse, he’s just left the scene of an accident that killed his high-maintenance mistress. Few actors could portray such a man as well as Richard Gere, who brings maturity and spot-on ambiguity to the role. Think Bernie Madoff but better looking. Despicable as the character is, you can’t help but wonder if he’ll be able to negotiate this minefield. Tense and believable, this one keeps you guessing and involved. Impressive debut for writer/director Nicholas Jarecki. Loved the ending. (107 min)
