Tokyo gets the rare pleasure of an African music double header when young singer-songwriters Nigerian Asa and Senegalese Tété perform at Roppongi Hills. Born in Paris but raised in Lagos where she’s opened for the likes of Beyonce, Asa possesses a rich, jazzy voice that she deploys effectively in songs like her hit “Jailer.” Tété has a folkier bent, wielding an acoustic guitar on numbers that he describes as “pop-folk-bluesy songs with intellectual pretensions.” Both will also perform solo gigs at Club Quattro in Shibuya.
Roppongi Hills Arena, Oct 10 (listing).
