Tokyo-based Thilak Catering (http://thilakcatering.com) is known for a lot more than just food. Sure, the cooking is impressive—the head chef has 25 years’ experience at leading international hotels and embassies. Thilak’s wide-ranging menus, available for any occasion, are infused with Scandinavian, French and Asian influences. Among the dozens of dishes on offer are cognac chicken liver pâté, mushroom-ricotta tarts, salmon mousse with dill cream, pear-walnut salad with blue cheese dressing, foie gras-stuffed quail with pomegranate sauce, shrimp millefeuille, and cream cheese cake with red currants. But it’s the focus on details—professional servers, classy tableware and eye-catching floral arrangements—that have attracted clients like Morgan Stanley and the British Council. Now, everyone can enjoy Thilak’s cuisine even if they’re not planning a party: the owners recently opened a casual restaurant, Koz Café, in the leafy Tomigaya area (1-16-11 Tomigaya, Shibuya-ku; 03-3481-0884).
