It’s always refreshing to come across a romantic dramedy that flaunts formula. This one starts with a likable married couple, clearly in love and best friends… and getting divorced. She’s Type A; he’s lovably schlubby, and she thinks she can do better. Excellent chemistry between co-writer Rashida Jones and SNL vet Andy Samberg. Then an irreversible plot twist results in Jesse’s ironically evolving into the guy Celeste thought she wanted. The characters are believable, the emotion is gut-wrenching (you know these two belong together) and the segues effortless. And it’s even romantic. And funny.
