At least this Twilight for pre-teen boys has a sense of humor. But this toothless bit of revisionist vampire nonsense is so sure it’s going to have at least two sequels (when even one would surprise me), it leaves numerous loose ends and winds up simply being unsatisfying. It includes inane concepts like a war between “half-vampires” and the more traditional “Vampinese.” I am not making this up. Newcomer Chris Massoglia puts in an anemic lead performance, but John C. Reilly (Boogie Nights, Chicago), a natural comic, has some wry fun with his part, and wait until you get a load of Ken Watanabe. Also Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek.
