The Tokyo Ballet continues its association with Maurice Béjart in a weekend of performances that present the late French choreographer’s work in a new context. In the decades leading up to Béjart’s death in 2007, the Tokyo Ballet was the main vehicle for his work in Japan, and he created a number of Japan-themed pieces in response. His successor, Gil Roman, brings together choreography from works including the Yukio Mishima-themed M in a new performance, Dances in the Mirror. The program also includes Béjart’s renowned interpretation of Bolero.
