Indulge in Musical Creativity: AlphaTheta Lab® Pop-Up

AlphaTheta Corporation, the company responsible for Pioneer DJ products, is set to launch the AlphaTheta Lab® pop-up store at Harajuku’s MIL GALLERY, running for 9 days from March 23rd to March 31st.

The pop-up aims to create an inclusive community for music lovers, and provide experiences for beginner DJs to professional DJs at the forefront of the music scene. It will also provide opportunities to touch, try, and purchase a range of AlphaTheta’s DJ equipment firsthand, as well in-depth workshops, followed by free DJ events in the evenings.

AlphaTheta’s official DJ instructors will join the event to offer exclusive lessons at the event, geared towards DJs of all skill levels. Special workshops tailored for parents and children (Ages 6-12) will take place on March 30th.

AlphaTheta Lab® also boasts space for street dancers to showcase the new iOS app DanceTribe. geared to provide methods of assisting with dance practice, including “loop playback,” “slow playback,” and “audio editing,” ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all dancers.

The AlphaTheta Lab® pop-up space will transform into a vibrant dance floor with DJ performances curated on March 23 and 29, starting at 6:00 PM. The lineup features local artists such as Kikiorix from “Rainbow Disco Club”, Kotsu from Japan-based house music collective “CYK”, UK-born selector Frankie $, SAMO from “FULLHOUSE”, and N² hailing from “Kyun Desu. AlphaTheta Lab® also co-hosts live paint performances with Cattleyatokyo™ blending DJ and art enhancing the overall event experience.

The popup offers another workshop opportunity, led by AlphaTheta’s product planning team breaking down essential features and tips & tricks on DJ equipment such as the CDJ-3000 player and DJM-V10/A9 mixer, frequently seen in DJ booths at nightclubs and festivals around the world. 

In celebration of an event that fuses music and fashion, the pop-up will introuce collaborative merchandise designed by the Japanese fashion designer Shunsuke Aoki’s brand, BODYSONG. The exclusive items include hoodies and caps, incorporating design influences from AlphaTheta’s latest products—the professional portable DJ speaker system “WAVE-EIGHT” and the all-in-one DJ system “OMNIS-DUO.”

Art direction and venue production is directed by Koji Shiouchi’s creative collective Cattleyatokyo™. DJ booth and interior furniture design are led by Buttondesign, creating visual representations that illustrate how everyday life is enriched with sound by our side.

DJ event production and spatial design are directed by the cutting-edge visual art and design team REALROCKDESIGN, known for their work with events like “Rainbow Disco Club”, and UNITED WORKS, specializing in event planning, production, and management for music-related ventures.

Regardless of age, background, and DJ skills, the pop-up welcomes anyone to immerse themselves in the world of DJing throughout the course of its run and expand on the newly launched community through AlphaTheta Lab®.
