Tokyo’s favorite science-and-stories night out hits a decade this month, and Nerd Nite Tokyo is marking the occasion with a fittingly crowd-pleasing double header: two talks, one theme, zero shame required.

First up, returning fan favorite Matt Kaemmerer, whose 2019 music theory talk remains the most-watched video on Nerd Nite Tokyo’s YouTube channel, is back with something more hands-on: the art and science of karaoke mashups. Expect to leave with actual tips you can deploy at your next booth session.

Then Benjamin Poynter, visiting from overseas, explores the psychology of the mic: what happens to us when we step up, shed our everyday selves, and briefly become rock stars. He’s also debuting Duo-sing-o, a karaoke-based language learning game.
