Long a centerpiece of Yokohama’s event calendar, Greenroom’s blend of earthy grooves with a placid seaside location makes it the perfect spot to chillax or rock out depending on your vibe. This year’s headliner is reggae lion Jimmy Cliff, whose pioneering film The Harder They Come did perhaps more than anyone besides Bob Marley to bring Jamaican music to the West. In keeping with the surf theme, the bill also includes surf rockers such as Donavon Frankenreiter, mellow Japanese acts like songstress UA and upbeat ska-punk from Okinawa’s Mongol 800. The park atmosphere and climbing installations can keep the kids occupied while parents enjoy brews and tunes.
May 24-25, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.
