Eri Majima’s Dance Emerge troupe presents a reimagining of Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s classic work of magical realism. One of the doyennes of contemporary Japanese dance and a choreographer who has worked with the renowned Alvin Ailey Workshop Company, Majima offers what promises to be a diverse take on One Hundred Years of Solitude, with a motley cast of performers: butoh and ballet dancers, members of the popular street dance-influenced Condors company, elementary schoolchildren, and even the unbelievably lithe “body poet” Kazuma Glen.

Hundred Years of Solitude
A diverse take on the original classic work presented by Eri Majima and dance troupe. Jan 13, 7pm; Jan 14, 2pm and 7pm, ¥4,500-¥6,000. Owl Spot, Higashi Ikebukuro. Tel: 03-3646-5558.
