A long-divorced and soon-to-be empty-nester lady chef (Meryl Streep) hooks up with her ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) at a wedding (the sex was always good), but at the same time, she’s drawn to the shy charms of a local architect (Steve Martin). This middle-aged rom-com by Nancy Myers, who worked a similar magic with Something’s Gotta Give, is not all that complicated, really, but thanks to the performances of these pros, along with a smart script, it is a singularly enjoyable and entertaining two hours at the movies. Nice job as well by John Krasinski (from the American version of The Office).
