Ron Wood and Paul McCartney aren’t the only famous musicians with artistic aspirations. As anyone who’s followed the career of Japanese rocker Kenichi Asai will know, he’s long brought a powerful visual artistry and sense of storytelling to his bands Blankey Jet City, Sherbets and Pontiacs. Let’s Study is the unfortunate name of Asai’s new children’s book, which brings his psychedelic drawing skills and sly humor to the story of Roulee, a young boy with a passion for cars if not learning. This exhibition presents the art for Let’s Study as well as goods from Asai’s music label Sexy Stones—including of course the Sherbets’ latest album Free.
