It’s three for the price of one at Liquidroom this month, as Japanese alt-rock warhorses Little Creatures invite two heavyweight peers to celebrate their latest album release. The Creatures formed two decades ago around mercurial singer-songwriter Takuji Aoyagi, a kind of ethno-musical voyager along the lines of American guitarist-anthropologist Ry Cooder. New album Love Trio takes the group in a more mainstream direction, with references to the songwriting of late-era Beatles. Joining them for the coming-out party are post-rockers Toe and titans of angular indie-rock, Zazen Boys.
