Lazy Exorcist retread has Eric Bana (trying on a hilarious Bronx accent) as a cop-turned-demonologist haunted by the acts of Mephistophelean mayhem committed by some GIs who apparently left ajar a door to hell while in Iraq.

It’s “inspired by actual events,” which is movie-speak for “this stuff never really happened.” Note to filmmakers: dim lighting alone does not make things scary, just hard to see. Looks like it was shot and edited on an iPhone.

The demons are gross but never scary. The background music is by The Doors. Really. Hopelessly hokey, dreadfully derivative, and mercifully missable.
