Recently widowed old fella (Robert De Niro) guilt-trips his soon-to-be-married wanker grandson (the highly limited Zac Efron) into taking him to Florida for spring break. What follows answers the question, “How low will De Niro go?” Okay, I like a good gross-out comedy from time to time (The Hangover, say. Or even Sausage Party). But this one forgot the comedy part. There’s zilch narrative drive, the dialogue, designed to shock, is merely embarrassing. Homophobic, misogynistic, racist, scatological, charmless, miscalculated and desperate. Only for those who find masturbating septuagenarians funny. (102 min)
