Next time you travel to the US, don’t be surprised if you’re pulled aside and asked by security staff to play a bit of Nintendo Wii. That’s the likely result of a $20 million Homeland Security project aimed at finding better ways to screen travelers.
The Future Attribute Screening Technology (FAST) aims to use the Wii Fit Balance Board to, well, check people’s balance. The researchers, apparently, think anyone who’s a bit wobbly might be nervous and/or suspicious. Whether or not there’s anything in the theory remains to be seen, but we’re pretty sure it might just weed out those folk who don’t have a future as virtual yogaists.
