Lush-voiced Aussie baritone on debut spot in Japan

Lush-voiced Aussie baritone Oliver Mann takes his first crack at Japan in a nationwide tour that kicks off Friday. Hailing from Melbourne, the operatically trained Mann pens emotive songs that set his unearthly voice against an acoustic guitar and anything from harpsichords to field recordings of fireworks. In Tokyo he’ll be performing tracks from recent albums The Possum Wakes At Night and Oliver Mann Sings, as well as new material from a forthcoming album due in 2012.

What’s more, Metropolis has five pairs of tickets to his Shimokitazawa 440 show. E-mail vaughan@redballoonartistmanagement.com with the subject: “baritone voice.”

Nanahari, Oct 7 and Shimokitazawa 440, Oct 22 (listing).
