For three decades, British dub/electro label On-U sound has been “disturbing the comfortable [and] comforting the disturbed.” This is the slightly twisted vision of founder Adrian Sherwood, who arrives to celebrate the birthday with some of the friends who helped make the label what it is in Japan. Among them is leftfield electro unit Audio Active, who with Sherwood producing had a string of innovative albums like Tokyo Space Cowboy in the ’90s. A slew of commemorative releases are also in the offing by key On-U artists like Lee “Scratch” Perry and African Head Charge.
