Paranormal inactivity and cheap parlor tricks

They’re going to keep making these tired, found-footage cheapies until you stop paying to see them. For this fifth outing, the lack of action moves out of stale whitebread suburbia to target Latino audiences, as a trio of camera-toting teens delves into some spookiness in the ’hood. Borrows more from the vastly superior Chronicle than from its surveillance-cam predecessors. Heavy on the “Boo!” moments, if that’s what floats your boat, but not a lot going on here except long stretches of paranormal inactivity, interspersed by a few cheap parlor tricks presented in a nauseating shaky-cam aesthetic.
