“Godmother of contemporary dance” Mika Kurosawa choreographs for dancers Naoka Uemura and Maki Morishita in a female power performance at Spiral’s circular atrium in Aoyama. The name of the work is Kakeru Onna, which translates roughly as “galloping/advancing women.” Uemura and Morishita will have the task of filling the large space and its eponymous spiral staircase with movement. The result could be a site-specific work of the likes Tokyo has never seen—and may never again.
