After more than two decades in the business, iconoclastic French illustrator and filmmaker Stéphane Blanquet is getting his first extensive solo exhibition in Japan. Blanquet’s fantastical creations have appeared in magazines, museums, films, children’s books and all manner of media in countries around the world, and Tokyo now gets its own close-up in the form of “Blanquet Plagues Tokyo—1st Round.” In addition to recent artwork, the exhibition features films, a giant 24m2 painting on the sidelines of the Tokyo Art Fair, and a discussion with underground manga star and creative partner Takashi Nemoto. Fans can get their books signed and bodies painted on April 3 and 10.
